Empowering Young Women Through Design
AIA Toledo Members Mentor at Girls Hub
AIA Toledo members Erin Curley, AIA (Engage Studio Architects), Chris Mowen, AIA (Thomas Porter Architects), and Isabel Souza, Assoc. AIA (PMBA Architects), recently volunteered their time and expertise as mentors for Women of Toledo’s Girls Hub summer program. Over the course of four weeks, they helped guide the students through the design process, shared insights into architecture and design, and empowered the young builders to build the spaces they want to see.
AIA Toledo is proud to continue supporting Girls Hub as a Program Partner. Designed to equip young women with hands-on skills in woodworking, design, and leadership, Girls Hub fosters creativity, confidence, and collaboration. This summer’s builders created custom toolboxes and chairs, expressing their identity and ideas through design, while gaining valuable experience and forming lasting friendships.
We’re grateful to Erin, Chris, and Isabel for representing AIA Toledo and helping cultivate creativity, confidence, and curiosity in the next generation of fearless designers.
Women of Toledo invites the community to celebrate the Builders' accomplishments at their 'A Seat at the Table' exhibition on Thursday, July 17, at the Main Library’s McMaster Center. Come celebrate the creativity, courage, and craftsmanship of the 2025 Girls Hub Builders. The evening includes storytelling, networking, and an exhibition of their work.
