Urban Design Across Borders: Reflections on Global Practice from the Netherlands
Join us for a virtual program with Amanda Bryant, Associate AIA, as she shares her perspective on the opportunities and challenges of practicing architecture and urban design in an international context. Drawing from her personal experience living, studying, and working in the Netherlands, Amanda will explore how cultural, educational, and regulatory differences shape design approaches abroad.
This session will introduce participants to AIA Continental Europe and its role in fostering global architectural engagement. Through the lens of the Dutch integrated design model, Amanda will highlight how place-specific strategies influence architectural outcomes in dense, diverse, and evolving urban environments.

About the speaker
Amanda Bryant is an urban designer based in Rotterdam, Netherlands, with eight years of international experience in both architecture and urban design. Her work is grounded in a strong sense of social responsibility and a passion for integrating architecture within the public realm. Amanda is an active member of AIA Continental Europe, where she chairs the Emerging Professionals Committee and co-leads the chapter’s International Mentorship Program. She earned her master’s degree from TU Delft in 2018, where her thesis on the spatial effects of automobile dependence was awarded the AIA Continental Europe scholarship.
